dead on the surplus blankets (2020/21)
for a varying amount of electric guitars with interwoven spring drum, objects, & e-bow
The guitars are never to be touched directly;
The spring of a hand held spring-drum is intertwined with the guitar strings;
An e-bow is placed in a static position.
The performers' contact with the guitar is mediated through the spring drum. The slightest changes in distance, angle, and height are translated through the guitar strings. These perturbations, in conjunction with the bowing of the spring, produce resonances which collide with the frequencies of the e-bow resulting in fortification, shape-shifting, and/or annihilation.
